Act Without Words was performed by Nick DiJulio at Auburn University as part of a collaboration between the Theater Department and the Honors College. The show used the script by Samuel Beckett to create a piece emphasizing the disillusion of reality. The lighting design for this show was comprised mostly of a-directional fronts and texture created by gobos across the performance space. The colour choice was selected to mimic the effect of 3D glasses, creating multiple versions of the self and highlighting the unnaturalistic aspects of the show. The scenic design played heavily on the border of reality and cartoon, and utilized themes from wartimes as inspiration for the set pieces. The piece was created and performed entirely by four students, and had one performance with a talk-back as the outcome.
